Meet the Director

The Director of Starehe Girls’ Centre is Mrs Margaret Wanjohi, a Biological Sciences graduate with a post-graduate Diploma in Education, was well-known by Starehe founder Dr Griffin.

A leader among women

Mrs Wanjohi has been a teacher for 30 years; 22 of which she served as a Senior Principal of the Kenya High School.

She was also a Commissioner in the Public Service Commission of Kenya for five years; serving three as Deputy Chair Person.

In addition to providing inspirational leadership at the Girls’ Centre, Mrs Wanjohi is Chairman of the Board of Management of the Kenyatta National Hospital, a Trustee of the Presbyterian University of East Africa, and a Trustee of New Life Home Trust.

Passionately connected

Mrs Wanjohi is actively involved with her Church; St Andrews Presbyterian, where she is Vice Chairperson of the Women’s Group and a member of the choir.

She is also a member of three other women’s social groups - and excited to see an improvement in the educational opportunities available to girls in Kenya.
