Starehe sends condolences on the death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Starehe UK and the Starehe Centres in Kenya have written to the Royal Family to express sincere condolences upon the death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The President’s Awards in Kenya, founded in 1966 by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, which has been championed by both schools for many years, is modelled on the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards scheme.

“All current and past Starehe students owe much to HRH Prince Philip, ”Starehe UK Chairman Tim Faithfull writes. “The ethos of personal development through service to others has enabled thousands of Starehe alumni to go on and put those values into practice in Kenya and the world at large. The two Centres remain grateful for the inspiring work HRH Prince Philip undertook to support young people across the world, and especially in Kenya.”
